A quick throwback to the 90s there from Crowded House…
It might seem to be a little odd quoting an Australian band in a blog about a London summer party venue. However, just walking around London one day last week I experienced hail, wind, rain and then got so warm I ended up wearing little more than a t-shirt. That is perhaps a drastic example, but it does very clearly highlight the importance of having an all-weather venue when planning outdoor events in the UK.
And of course, that is something we can do for you here at BMA House. Our Courtyard and Garden are both truly spectacular spaces – unique in London – but knowing you have the back-up of equally stunning indoor spaces with the same capacities is vital.
So now you are confident that we have contingency options here – what can you expect from our outdoor spaces this summer? Here at BMA House we are looking ‘Back to the Future of Summer’ as we plan a range of events to inspire attendees joining us here in the heart of Bloomsbury.
The Courtyard really is BMA House’s centrepiece. Visible from the road through wrought iron gates, the whole venue is built around this space – which is capable of hosting 320 guests around its beautiful fountain. It is an oasis of calm. Away from the hustle and bustle of the streets outside, making it an ideal summer party venue.
Surrounded by the grandeur of BMA House’s Grade II listed façade, The Courtyard is arguably one of the most inspiring and impressive locations for a party. As the hub around which the venue is built it is also perfectly located when it comes to making the most of our other events spaces, whether that is for a meeting, conference, presentation or simply that essential wet weather back-up plan.
The Garden is a more intimate space, tucked away yet made truly special by the wondrous medicinal herbs planted to reflect the fact we are home to the British Medical Association. Where better to enjoy an evening drink after a busy day than here, amongst the plants and by the pond? The greenery and their accompanying fragrances make it a unique place for an event, with plenty of quiet areas for networking or catching up with friends old and new. With easy access direct into our Garden room it is also perfectly located for those events needing both indoor and outdoor spaces.
To truly bring these spaces alive we work closely with CH&CO, our catering partner to create bespoke, ethical and exciting menus that reflect the two outdoor spaces and in the case of the Garden even make use of those wonderful herbs growing fresh on-site. We bring seasonal food to your event, supporting our wonderful British farmers & source local produce wherever possible. Sustainable spring and summer menus this year are available in a number of exciting packages including our Grilled To Perfection BBQ offering that includes three main options plus a dessert.
We are also offering a host of Street Food stalls this year to make guest feel the most of their outdoor experience. These include:
World Garden – a range of creative vegetarian dishes inspired by international cuisines ranging from the Mediterranean to the far east and beyond.
Mexican Cantina – from woodland mushroom tacos to pulled beef quesadillas – you will feel like you just got off the plane for your summer holiday in the Yucatan.
Texan Ranch – with cowboy chilli, chicken waffles and bacon doughnuts – if you aren’t sure where the mains end and desserts begin then you should just make sure you try everything.
Panipuri Bhel Puri Chaat – nothing says street food like the aromas of traditional kebabs cooked over hot coals, spices and tamarind.
Posh Dogs – nothing says BBQ like a hearty sausage – but we have so much more to try than just a frankfurter.
All our summer party options include the space hire, drinks packages, AV, outdoor furniture, an appropriately sized wet weather alternative and a dedicated event planner throughout.
And finally… one of our favourite outdoor additions is to provide a pop-up bar specialising in cocktails that make the most of the theme, the setting and the on-site produce. It’s incredible what the right herbs and spices from our garden can do to a cocktail or mocktail.
